Often the only bit of the menstrual cycle people recognise is the period (bleeding) phase, but your entire cycle lasts 28 days and features the Luteal Phase, Ovulation, Follicular Phase and Pre-menstrual phase.

During your cycle your hormones peak and dip and different times, and these may have an impact on your netball both physically and psychologically. The key for all players is knowing your own body, understanding your cycle and mapping how it affects you. This helps us plan and prepare as well as tailor training etc to suit you and your body.

There are limited studies on Women’s health and the menstrual cycle’s effect on the body in sport. We are all different, so finding what works for you is the key.
