There were 11 Teams who took part in the Somerset NETVETS tournament yesterday in what was great netball weather - not too hot and not too cold and NOT wet and no white stuff!

The day started off with a great Zumba session with all players, umpires and some supporters participating.

The matches started with enthusiasm and determination from all teams. It was great to see all these players still playing (most had played in the Somerset League the day before!) - a testament to the inclusivity of netball and fitness and skills of these players. We believe the oldest player playing yesterday was in her early 70s :)

Galmington NC Juniors ran a cake stall which was well received and they made just over £100.

The lunch break enabled people to visit The Knocker Locker to look at and try on lots of different makes of bras with some expertise on fitting etc. Although learning from next year tells me there should not be a lunch break for this age group!!

The bar was open and was able to offer a well-earned beverage at the end of the matches!

  • SEMI FINAL 1 - Paulton Rovers v Wellington
  • SEMI FINAL 2 - Not Fast, Just Furious v Vintage Vixens
  • FINAL - Not Fast, Just Furious v Paulton Rovers
  • WINNERS - Not Fast, Just Furious
  • RUP - Paulton Rovers

Both these teams will represent Somerset at the Regional Finals of NETVETS which, will be held at Plymouth Marjon University Sports Centre on Sunday 21 April 2024 (10am - 4pm)

It was lovely to see so many people watching the netball during the day and for those who stayed for the Final.

We are hoping to hold this as an annual event, and we now have a new Somerset Trophy!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THE DAY A SUCCESS.
